Last night I attended a concert of Augusta Read Thomas' music in Dallas, presented by Voices of Change. I feel that she is one of those extraordinary people who experiences and perceives so much more than the rest of us. Hearing her music, I feel that life for her is so much more textured, more colorful, more expressive. Her music is vibrant, vigorous, strident, ambiguous, unblinking, dense, expressive, and seems to fill in all the spaces between my chunky perceptions. Sometimes it's too intense.
