"In 1967 I hired Frank Zappa for $2,000 to do the soundtrack for this animated TV commercial that I was animating and producing. It won a Clio award for 'best use of sound.' It was the beginning of a two year relationship that had me filming 14 hours of footage to be used for a film he called "Uncle Meat".
LF Project readers probably know that our first real-world concert event was back in spring 2007, collaborating with composer/DJ Mason Bates. The Loose Filter Project went live in March 2007 with a concert at the beautiful State Theater in Modesto, California. The concert featured the incomparable Mason Bates as composer and DJ, the CSU-Stanislaus Scratch Band, and a very enthusiastic crowd. Good times.
On April 4, 2009 the CSUS New Music Ensemble performed at Deva Cafe in downtown Modesto, CA. The concert was a co-production of the Off The Air Productions, CSUS Music Department, and The Loose Filter Project.
